A selection of sculpture and drawings by Beth Carter will be on display at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, as part of upcoming Sawdust and Sequins: The Art of the Circus Exhibition between 24 March and 18 June 2018.

“To celebrate 250 years of circus, the Royal West of England Academy (RWA) presents a major exhibition that pays homage to the greatest show on earth. Sawdust and Sequins: The Art of the Circus will feature historic and contemporary art, inspired by the magic, thrills and spills of the Big Top.”

The annual Spike Island Open is a chance to explore behind the scenes of this former Brooke Bond tea packing factory. Spike Island is home to over 70 artists’ studios, Spike Print Studio, UWE Fine Art BA/MA students, as well as many other creative practitioners including designers, writers, filmmakers, animators and photographers.

Come and see some of my recent experimental work in Studio 22.

Opening night: Fri 28 April, 6–9pm (party ’til late).

2016 National Open Art Competition Award

The drawing Sunday’s Carnival has won the South West of England award in the 2016 National Open Art Competition. The award was presented by Michael Wolff (co-founder of Wolff Olins) at Mercer’s Hall, London on Friday.
