WolfandDeer-329-279px

bo.lee gallery are exhibiting works by Beth Carter and Davy & Kristin McGuire from 6-18 November 2014 at ‘A Lamb in Wolf’s Clothing’ Arch 6, Crucifix Lane, Bermondsey, London SE1 3JW (Underdog Gallery).

“A Lamb in Wolf’s Clothing poses empathy for both roles of the Hunter and the hunted” … “Recently returned from a long residency in New York, Carter establishes herself in her biggest London show to date with a fresh body of work exhibited for the first time here in the UK. Her signature sculptures blur the emotion of innocence and the instinct of a beast, as the historical referencing of these animals is tossed aside and the viewer engages with this new portrayal.”

Odyssey : A long journey in which many things happen – June 27 – July 18, 2014

TravellingShoes-329-219px

The Church of St Edmund The King, Lombard Street, London EC3V 9EA. Bank/Exit 6.

“Odyssey is a collaboration between bo.lee Projects and St Edmund in the City and brings together a collection of artworks which meditate upon the varied routes we may take in life, but reminds us of the one common certainty. The journey of life is marked by death as a spectre that waits patiently in the wings, its presence reminds us of the truly fleeting nature of our earth bound existence. Each of the works on show responds differently to the inevitability of death and, in interaction with these sacred spaces, inspires fresh reflection on our own life’s journey.” “Odyssey will examine art that serves as more than an aesthetic – art should challenge, question and create reflection.”

Artists exhibited : Beth Carter  | Kathy Dalwood | Patrick Haines | Damien Hirst | Rebecca Louise Law | Koji Shiraya

Open 11–5 Mon–Fri, 12–4 Weekends.

‘Dancing with Morpheus”, Axelle Boston, 29 Mar-26 Apr 2014

Beth Carter is thrilled to be exhibiting new sculpture and drawings in a solo exhibition at Axelle Fine Arts, Boston.

Having relocated to Brooklyn, NY to prepare for this show, Beth has produced new bronze sculptures that range from life-size figures down to small more intimately scaled pieces which will be shown alongside her new large-scale monochrome charcoal and colour pastel drawings. Serving as a perfect allegory for this powerful new body of work, the title of the exhibition “Dancing with Morpheus” refers to the Greek god of dreams and leader of the Oneiroi (winged spirits of dreams). In her new figures Carter intuitively manifests her fascination with themes of transformation, half-states, hybrids and duality with her characteristic sense of playfulness and foreboding.

Exhibition runs: 29 Mar-26 April 2014
Opening Reception: Sat 29 Mar, 6-8pm
